Friday's Qualifiers To Decide Drivers Shootout Fate
On Thursday the Tulsa Shootout finished off heat races, started consolations, and moved past the halfway mark for the week.
With another 83 races completed on Thursday, the 36th annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout finished off heat races, started the alphabet soup, and moved past the halfway mark of a grinding week.
Now, one of the most exciting days of the year arrives on Friday. Qualifier day.
112 drivers enter, and only 16 leave with a feature ticket punched. It’s intense.

Consistently, the Shootout qualifiers are often the most cutthroat races of the year. Go to the pit stand and you’ll feel the electricity in the air; head down to staging and you can sense the urgency as crews thrash on cars; ask any driver and all they care about is the passing points.

Winged Outlaw qualifiers are here!
Again, it’s 112 drivers (32 inverted) with only top 16 in combined passing points locking-in to the main event.

In the headlining Winged Outlaw division, there are no surprises at the top of the charts entering qualifiers. Among the top eight are powerful people like Joe B. Miller, Tyler Courtney, Jason Friesen, Jason McDougal, Ryan Mueller, Russ Disinger, Jonathan Beason, and Kevin Thomas Jr.

Three-time Chili Bowl champion Christopher Bell topped the charts in Outlaw Non-Wing, but drew a stacked qualifier with the likes of fellow Shootout champions Chris Andrews and Alex Bright boxing him in. Other notables at the front of ONW are Missouri’s Quinton Benson, Beason again in his Ten-J ride, Spence aiming for a third title in three years, and Kameron Key, who is piecing together an outstanding week.

The Stock Non-Wing field finally hit the track on Thursday morning for heat races and presented more passing than any other class. The top contenders to keep your eye on in Friday’s qualifiers include Michael Faccinto, Kyle Amerson, Aidan Borden, TJ Smith, Joey Jarowicz Jr., Alex Bright, Aiden Purdue, and Cory Kelley.

In A-Class, Justin Zimmerman of Athens, Texas quietly beat out a trio of Tulsa Expo legends in McDougal, Bell, and Bacon for initial high point man honors. Making up races 234-41 tomorrow, we could see some huge shake ups in the points with qualifiers to mix everything up.
Daison Pursley will have a busy day on Friday.
The action resumes tomorrow with another packed program of 75 races scheduled. Qualifiers are the headlining event of the day, but also hitting the track will be more alphabet soup with D-Mains, C-Mains, and B-Mains on the docket as well.
