J.J. Yeley rides again in the RMS #36 when the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship competes at Dirt Oval 66 this Saturday.
J.J. Yeley, owner of one of the most successful careers in USAC racing history, will ride again in the RMS #36 when the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship competes at Dirt Oval 66 in Joliet, Ill. this Saturday, June 29.
Yeley, of Phoenix, Ariz., has had a consistent run of success at Dirt Oval 66, never finishing outside the top-four in six USAC National starts. He’s made three Midget starts there, finishing 4th in 2001, 3rd in 2002 and 4th in 2003. In three Sprint Car appearances, he’s finished 2nd in 2001, 3rd in 2002 and won in 2003.
Yeley made his last USAC National Midget appearance in last September’s “BC39” at the Dirt Track at IMS. He’s a five-time USAC National Champion and is the second and most recent driver to win the coveted Triple Crown in a single season, capturing the Silver Crown, National Sprint and National Midget championships in 2003. Previously, he had also won the Sprint title in 2001 and the Silver Crown championship in 2002.
Yeley will compete as a teammate to Thomas Meseraull on the RMS team Saturday in Joliet. Meseraull and RMS were victorious in last December’s “Junior Knepper 55” special event, indoors at the Southern Illinois Center.
The parking lot opens at Noon (Central), front gates at 3pm, pre-race party at 3pm and cars on track at 6:45pm.
Adult general admission tickets are $25, children general admission is $10, reserved adult tickets are $30, adult pit passes are $40 apiece and children pit passes are $10.
