French Rallycross legend Jean-Luc Pailler will return to top level rallycross for the sixth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Holjes in Sweden at the helm of his Pailler Competition team.

The 1993 Euro RX Champion’s team will travel to the legendary circuit with a pair of Peugeot 208 WRX Supercars for sons Fabien and Jonathan Pailler. Those cars were originally raced by Sweden’s Timmy Hansen and France’s Sebastien Loeb for Team Peugeot Hansen in World RX in 2016.

As France’s most successful ever rallycross team, Pailler Competition made a full-time return to Euro RX in 2015, and multiple French Rallycross Champion Fabien finished on the podium in German. The team has also held a regular presence at its home round of World RX at Loheac each September, but next week will mark the first time the team has entered the Swedish World RX round.

“It’s no secret that Loheac and Holjes are the two biggest rallycross events on the planet and we are really looking forward to race on this legendary Swedish track. This is a dream come true for us. With my brother we've been following our father for so many years when he was competing Euro RX and from the beginning Holjes was clearly the track we dreamed to race on. It's going to be even more fun to fight against the Hansen team again. For sure, we cannot compare ourselves with Timmy and Kevin Hansen since they are now two top drivers in contention for the World championship title but our two teams have been linked since the early 1990's when Kenneth Hansen and our father fought to be European Champions,” said Fabien Pailler. “From a pure performance perspective, we have to keep our feet on the ground. Even if we have two really competitive cars coming from Peugeot Sport factory, Holjes is one of the most tricky tracks on the calendar, a proper roller coaster and only skilled drivers with a strong experience have a chance on the pace from the beginning. The first step for us to be able to go through qualifying without major troubles.”

Jonathan Pailler is a regular podium finisher in the French Rallycross series. “It's still difficult for me to believe that we are will race on that legendary track but the time has come for us to do our homework. We are going to fight against some of the best rallycross drivers on the planet, who already have five races under their belt this year,” he said. “This is an extreme challenge for our team and this is why we need to focus on the way we are going to build our race weekend. We've found some interesting settings in the French Rallycross Championship so far and we hope that will let us the chance to start with a decent basis already from the Free Practice.”
