Todd Turner, managing editor of DirtonDirt, believes there's no better place to see a weekend of racing than the iconic Eldora Speedway, and this year’s race is out to be historic in its own way.
"The track has that amazing mix of history, Americana, competition, action and sheer excitement that often puts it atop the list of dirt tracks nationally," says Turner. "It's a special place for fans to visit and special place for drivers to win — you don't forget your first visit and drivers definitely don't forget their first victories."
As the Dirt Late Model Dream returns to Eldora, all the action will be streaming live on FloRacing and the FloSports app for those who can't witness the magic in person.
Dream Week At Eldora Speedway Pays Largest Purse In Late Model
The Dirt Late Model Dream has consistently been known for having one of the biggest purses in dirt late model racing, especially with its $100,000 winning prize. This year, however, may just be the largest combined purse it’s seen.
Including the FloRacing Night in America, the total payout for the Dirt Late Model Dream hovers around $700,000, accounting for all preliminary and heat races as well as the final, to be the largest sum the event has ever seen.

Remembering Scott Bloomquist
Arguably one of the best dirt drivers to be featured at Eldora Speedway, Scott Bloomquist’s name will be missing from the starting roster this year following his passing in August of 2024.
Bloomquist had the most wins in Dirt Late Model Dream with eight titles, his first one coming in just the second year of the event in 1995 and his last one coming in 2018. Bloomquist suffered a crash and was unable to finish in last year’s race.
Turner says Bloomquist's legacy is intertwined with Eldora Speedway itself.
"The race's oldest winner at 54 tops virtually every stat in race history — victories, earnings, laps led and more — setting a standard that likely will never be surpassed," says Turner.
The entire racing community has since acknowledged Bloomquist’s achievements and what he provided to the sport, and there will surely be recognition at this year’s Dirt Late Model Dream to remember Bloomquist’s passion.

Jonathan Davenport Looks To Make History
Jonathan Davenport enters this year’s race having won both the 2023 and 2024 Dirt Late Model Dream, and could very well see a third consecutive win.
Having three wins already under his belt, Davenport has the second-most first place finishes behind Bloomquist. Within his last seven races, Davenport has yet to dip below the top five, most recently landing second at Lucas Oil Speedway last month.
If Davenport reaches the top of the podium this weekend, he would be the first to ever win three consecutive Dirt Late Model Dream races. Brandon Overton nearly secured it with two consecutive titles in 2021 and 2022, but Davenport cut that dream short.
But there's still a chance for anyone to cross that finish line first, and Turner says it could ultimately come down to Davenport and comptetitor Bobby Pierce.
"What stands between J.D. and the three-peat is nearly 100 other drivers, most prominently Bobby Pierce. Pierce won last year's other 100-lappers at Eldora — the World 100 and Dirt Track World Championship — and is gunning for his first Dream. A Davenport-Pierce showdown is a definite possibility," says Turner.
