High Limit Racing winner Jacob Allen has announced he's retiring as a full-time Sprint Car driver, effective immediately, the Hanover, Pa., racer revealed in a lengthy social media post Wednesday.

The 30-year-old will be "stepping away from my driving career" and still be involved with his family-owned team as the head mechanic of the Shark Racing No. 1A, team owner Bobby Allen told FloRacing. The younger Allen cited that "it's been a good ride as a driver," but "with having a family now, I feel it's best for me to focus on being there for them."

"Though I’m stepping away as a driver, I am still going to be very involved with racing just taking on a new role with our program," Allen said. "I look forward taking care of everything we have built, helping my dad (Bobby Allen) with whatever he needs and being a leader in our Shark Racing program, and doing all the things I've always done with our Shark Racing team, but just wont be in the seat, which I'm happy about.

Allen's raced for his National Sprint Car Hall of Fame father since he started competing in the open-wheel division in 2012 and has six nationally touring wins in his career: Five with the World of Outlaws and one with High Limit last February at the now defunct East Bay Raceway Park (FL). Last year Allen finished 12th of 16 full-time drivers on High Limit's inaugural national season and this year had two top-fives with the World of Outlaws in eight races on his independent schedule.

"My family is my number one priority in my life. I look forward having to a new driver being in the car and helping with whatever it takes for that driver to be successful on the racetrack," Allen said. "We still plan to race our full schedule for this season. I also look forward to being able to be there for (teammate) Logan (Schuchart) as well.

"Not competing against each other I am excited to be able to be there for him as much as I possibly can and how ever I can. Racing is my life, I love it,  and I love being at the track, but my time behind the wheel is over. I’m happy about that, and I look forward to this new chapter in my racing career."

Bobby Allen added that the team's new driver of the No. 1A "will be announced soon," with the new driver scheduled to race April 11-13 at Selinsgrove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway in Pennsylvania.

Editor's note: FloRacing initially misread Allen's announcement that'd he retire from driving altogether after the 2025 season when he's actually retiring from driving, effectively immediately.
