During October's Kubota High Limit Racing Championship Awards banquet, James McFadden revealed he’s no longer racing full-time in the United States and that he’s headed home to Australia to spend more time with his family while racing more in his homeland.

The five-time Australian World Series Sprintcars champion never ruled out his return stateside on a more limited basis, though, as on Christmas Wednesday the 35-year-old announced he’s coming back to the U.S. part-time in 2025.

McFadden will race select events with California-based Tarlton Motorsports, sharing the team’s No. 21 Sprint Car with emerging Jacksonville, Oregon, driver Tanner Holmes, and isn’t expected to first appear with the team until June 11-15’s NARC Speedweek.

"I am really excited to have an opportunity to return to the United States and run a limited schedule this summer," McFadden said in a press release issued by Petersen Media. "This type of schedule is perfect for still have the chance to run some races in the USA.”

The 21-year-old Holmes, meanwhile, is expected to begin the new season with the Tarlton team at March 13’s High Limit opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway while McFadden finishes his Australian campaign in the Team Brady Racing No. 23x.

After NARC Speedweek at Central Oregon Speedway, Oregon’s Douglas County Dirt Track, Oregon’s Cottage Grove Speedway, and Washington’s Gray Harbor Raceway in that order form June 11-15, the Aussie’s summertime schedule will consist of marquee races in the Midwest.

McFadden is expected to round out Summer 2025 during High Limit’s West Coast swing Aug. 14-30. The World of Outlaws swing in California on Sept. 12-13 at Bakersfield Speedway and Perris Auto Speedway as well as Sept. 19-20 at Thunderbowl Raceway are on McFadden’s radar also.

"I am really excited for the direction we are heading in 2025," Tarlton Motorsports crew chief Drew Warner said. "The Tarlton family has been great to work with, and with some big changes happening within our team, I am really excited for what we were able to put together.

“I am super excited to work with both James McFadden and Tanner Holmes in 2025. It is no secret that James can win on any given night and can do some amazing things in a race car.”

McFadden spent the last four years touring the nation in a Sprint Car. In 2021, he took Kasey Kahne’s No. 9 on the World of Outlaws full-time, finishing seventh in the standings. In 2022, he moved over to Roth Motorsports in the Toyota Racing-backed No. 83, continuing full-time WoO campaigns through 2023.

After nine wins on the WoO tour the previous three seasons, McFadden toured the country on High Limit’s inaugural national campaign, finishing fourth in the standings with three victories in what he called "the funnest year he's had on the road."

At the High Limit Awards banquet on Oct. 13, the Aussie said that “High Limit has been the best part of my career so far” but that with “the vision and the things that are going on in Australia, I hope I'm a big part of that in the future.”

McFadden garners the spotlight this week beyond his news on Christmas Day as he readies to compete in the first-ever High Limit Racing International event Dec. 28-30 at Australia’s Perth Motorplex, which features six-time Sprint Car national champion Brad Sweet and former NASCAR Cup champion Kyle Larson.
