Corey Day Joining USAC Midgets For Remaining West Coast Races In 2024
Rising star Corey Day will be competing in the final seven events on the 2024 USAC National Midget Series schedule.
Corey Day will join the USAC National Midget Series for their remaining seven races on the 2024 schedule out west. Day will drive the Willie Kahne No. 4 he car that he won the Thursday Chili Bowl preliminary feature in this past January.
Day finished third in the 2024 Chili Bowl finale behind eventual winner Logan Seavey and Tanner Thorson, both who will be competing in all seven USAC Midget races to end the season.
The Chili Bowl was just the start of a breakout season in 2024 for Day, who scored eight victories and finished fifth in the championship standings in his rookie national sprint car season with Kubota High Limit Racing. His performance drew the eyes of the NASCAR world and secured him starts with Hendrick Motorsports to run ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races.
Day won with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Knoxville Raceway and secured his second straight Gold Cup Race of Champions trophy this past season. He also collected a big pay day in the Skagit Nationals and sits fourth in money earned among winged sprint car drivers with $485,714 in earnings, according to sprintcarratings.com.
Day has made 17 USAC National Midget starts during his career and has a solo win at Circle City Raceway, where at the time he became the youngest driver to win a USAC National Midget feature. He finished second at Ventura one year ago in the Turkey Night Grand Prix and seventh at Merced Speedway.
The USAC National Midget west coast swing will begin at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, California on November 15-16 for the Hangtown 100. From there, the series will travel to Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California on November 20.
Merced Speedway will host the series November 22-23 before a trip to Bakersfield Speedway on November 26. The prestigious Turkey Night Grand Prix will end the season at Ventura Raceway on November 30.
