Gravel Wants To Race Sweet As Much As He Can

On the day that Kubota High Limit Racing announced their opening weekend in Las Vegas for 2025, the series also released their full schedule for the upcoming season. But could they be adding one of the greatest sprint car drivers in the world to their roster as well?

David Gravel peaked the curiosity of sprint car fans with a social media post Monday that simply stated "2K25?" with a photo of himself alongside 2024 High Limit Racing champion Brad Sweet.

Gravel is expected to lock up his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car Championship this week during the World Finals at Charlotte, a title he has been chasing since 2014. He enters Charlotte with a 74-point lead following an impressive season with 14 wins and an average finish of fifth.

Gravel has been competing regularly with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series since the 2013 season and has collected 102 career wins. In seven of his last eight season with the Outlaws, Gravel hasn't finished worse than third in points, including three straight runner-up points finishes to Sweet prior to this year.

During the offseason leading into the 2024 season, Gravel used his YouTube channel to do a LeBron James-like 'decision' and ultimately choose to return to the Outlaws in 2024.

This past season, Gravel competed in a pair of High Limit Racing events: the Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway and the Joker's Jackpot during Kings Royal week at Eldora Speedway. Gravel collected a $100,000 payday by winning the Joker's Jackpot main event.

Prior to competing in the Weikert Memorial, Gravel made it known that he wants to race against Brad Sweet as much as he can.

"Everybody is talking smack on social media that I'm winning because Brad Sweet's not there," Gravel said. "I want to race against Brad Sweet as much as I can. You always want to race against the toughest competition."

Will the challenge of racing and beating Sweet in a championship battle lure one of sprint car racing's best to High Limit Racing in 2025? Only time will tell.
