The complete schedule for the Dirt Track World Championship will transpire over a three-day span at Eldora Speedway.

Dirt Track World Championship Schedule Breakdown

Friday will include inspections and driver's meetings before the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, Modifieds and Steel Block Late Model kick things off with hot laps. Qualifying and heat races for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and Steel Block Late Models will lead into a 30-lap Modified feature. 

Lastly, Saturday is planned to have a fan outreach service and driver autograph session in the fan zone barn to warm the audience members up for the 100-lap main event, the 44th annual Lucas Oil Dirt Track World Championship, and will have one last Steel Block feature race of 25 laps.

Dirt Track World Championship Notes

• For the second straight year, Carl Short’s General Tire Dirt Track World Championship presented by ARP returns to Eldora Speedway.
• The 44th installment of the DTWC begins with Friday’s time trials and heat races preceding Saturday’s consolations, $3,000-to-win non-qualifier and 100-lap, $100,000-to-win finale for the Lucas Oil Series.
• Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., was the eighth and final different leader in last year’s DTWC as he nearly ran out of gas and sputtered across the line a mere 0.084 of a second ahead of Hudson O’Neal in a photo finish. Sheppard secured his fifth career event victory and will be chasing his sixth event crown this weekend (2013, ’16, ’19, ’20, ’23).
• O’Neal, of Martinsville, Ind., enters on the outside of the Big River Steel Big Four championship playoff and looks to end his touring season on a winning note. 
• Ricky Thornton Jr. of Chandler, Ariz., enjoyed a strong weekend at Brownstown and enters with a 50-point advantage over Jonathan Davenport as he looks to clinch his first career Lucas Oil Series title.
• Davenport, of Blairsville, Ga., led all 100 laps to win June’s $100,030 Dream XXX at Eldora, notching his ninth career crown jewel event victory there. He’ll seek his first career DTWC title.
• Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., held off a closing Dale McDowell to win Sept. 7's $57,000 World 100, his first victory at ‘The Big E’ since his first globe in 2016.
• Thursday's opener has modifieds prelims with stock cars running a full program.
• Late Model competition begins with Friday’s time trials and heat races, with the Steel Block Late Model Series contesting all prelims on the undercard, along with modifieds running a $5,000-to-win feature. Action wraps up with Saturday’s consolations, non-qualifier and 100-lap, $100,000-to-win finale; Steel Block Late Models will also close its 2024 season with a $5,000-to-win feature. 
• Pits open at 10 a.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. Friday and at noon on Saturday, with grandstands opening at noon for Thursday and Saturday (2 p.m. on Friday); opening ceremonies are set for 7:50 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, then 6:30 p.m. for Saturday’s finale.
