Stevie Sussex Recovering After Fiery Incident During Indiana Sprint Week
Sprint Car racer Stevie Sussex is recovering from a fiery incident on Friday night at Lincoln Park Speedway during USAC Indiana Sprint Week.
Stevie Sussex has been released from a local hospital and is recovering following a fiery incident Friday night at Lincoln Park Speedway.
While running ninth in the night's Indiana Sprint Week feature for USAC National Sprint Cars, Sussex's car burst into flames from an apparent fuel leak on lap 29 of the 30-lap event.
Sussex quickly escaped his car and was engulfed in flames. He was met by members of the safety crew who quickly extinguished the flames before Sussex returned to his feet and walked to the ambulance.
Sussex was transported to a nearby hospital and spent the night in the burn unit before being released on Saturday.
According to a Facebook post from his wife, Myrka Sussex, Stevie "will meet with the doctor first thing this week to see what course of action we gotta take." She went on to explain that "he will need to keep up with physical therapy and no surgeries at this time."
