World Of Outlaws Temporarily Lifting Exclusivity Restrictions For Drivers
World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series officials are temporarily lifting exclusivity restrictions for their drivers.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will be lifting exclusivity restrictions for their drivers this week, according to a report from Sprint Car Unlimited's Jeremy Elliott.
Teams are being allowed to race wherever they would like from July 1 through July 8 without the races counting against their four-race allotment. The move comes as a result of WoO drivers and teams losing 14 races this season due to weather-related postponements and cancellations.
Although Kubota High Limit Racing is not in action this week, World of Outlaws teams will be permitted to compete in events such as PA Speedweek and Saturday's Mid-Season Championship Nolan Wren Memorial at Knoxville Raceway.
World of Outlaws teams are currently allowed to compete in four non-WoO races per season while maintaining eligibility for the exclusivity bonus point fund available to teams. Teams competing in five to eight non-WoO races are eligible for the overall point fund, but not the exclusivity bonus. Drivers competing in more than eight non-WoO races per season are not eligible for the exclusivity bonus or the overall point fund.
Halfway through the 2024 calendar year, nearly all WoO drivers have used two races this season racing at high-paying Kubota High Limit Racing events. Buddy Kofoid raced at Kokomo Speedway and Eagle Raceway, while David Gravel, Logan Schuchart and Brock Zearfoss competed in the Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway. Carson Macedo and Giovanni Scelzi recently raced at the HLR Mid-Week Money Series event at Lake Ozark Speedway and the Eagle Nationals at Eagle Raceway.
The remaining two races likely for all of the traveling World of Outlaws will be at Eldora Speedway when the two series square off. Kubota High Limit Racing hosts the first two nights with the Joker's Jackpot, while the Outlaws come in and host the Kings Royal during the final two nights.
According to SprintCarRatings.com, money earned this season has been slightly lopsided towards High Limit Racing drivers as we enter the month of July. Currently, High Limit Racing drivers make up the top three spots in money earned through six months this year.
- Corey Day (HLR) - $245,200
- Tyler Courtney (HLR) - $242,950
- Brad Sweet (HLR) - $231,400
- David Gravel (WoO) - $200,200
- Danny Dietrich (PA) - $174,014
- Anthony Macri (PA) - $170,780
- Sheldon Haudenschild (WoO) - $163,175
- Rico Abreu (HLR) - $159,555
- Carson Macedo (WoO) - $149,850
- Brent Marks (HLR) - $148,930
David Gravel is currently the only World of Outlaws driver in the top five in money earned. Sheldon Haudenschild and Carson Macedo are the other World of Outlaws full-timer currently in the top 10.
The decision by the World of Outlaws to lift the restrictions to begin the month of July will allow their teams to chase some of the money they've missed out on due to postponements and cancelations.
