A new preliminary night format will be used during the 2024 Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway.

Initially announced in December when track officials revealed the 2024 event schedule, this year's Dirt Late Model Dream preliminary nights will see the driver roster split into two separate fields, with one field racing on Thursday, June 6 and the other field racing on Friday, June 7.

In recent years, the driver roster was split into two separate fields during each night of preliminary racing, with both fields contesting 20-lap features each night.

Now, drivers will be competing in just one 40-lap preliminary feature with more on the line than ever before.

Each day will carry a total purse in excess of $120,000, highlighted by a feature paying $25,000 to win and $2,000 to start. In addition to more money being up for grabs for drivers, the new format will also be a cost-saving move for teams.

Drivers will be able to request to race on a particular night; however, Eldora Speedway officials are not guaranteeing that all requests will be fulfilled. The track is committed to ensuring competitively balanced fields during both preliminary nights for the good of both competitors and fans.

During each night of racing, drivers will earn points using the "Every Lap Matters™" point system that has traditionally been used at Eldora Speedway's crown jewel Dirt Late Model events.

A full breakdown of Eldora Speedway's Every Lap Matters™ point system can be found below:

Points earned during each driver's preliminary night, along with the Wheel of Misfortune, will set the starting lineups for six heat races leading into the 30th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream on Saturday, June 8.

For the first time in its storied history, the Dirt Late Model Dream will boast a purse north of $600,000. With the addition of a $20,000-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America feature on Wednesday, June 5, that number climbs to more than $675,000 in total prize money at Eldora Speedway during Dirt Late Model Dream Week.

The official entry form for the 30th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream is now available for drivers/teams planning to compete.
