They say that all good things are worth waiting for, and that certainly rings true when it comes to the Short Track Super Series Speed Showcase at Port Royal Speedway. The $50,000-to-win Modified race originally scheduled for October 2023 is slated to be contested this week with a huge field of Modifieds in attendance. 

As of Friday afternoon, a whopping 64 Modifieds and 81 Sportsman Modifieds have registered for competition at this weekend's event. 

On-track action kicked off around 12 p.m. ET with open practice for all teams competing this weekend. Following a scheduled three-hour practice, a break will be taken for practice before qualifying night action begins. 

The huge field of Modifieds will be split up into four 15-lap qualifying races with a draw following the driver's meeting determining the lineup for those races.
