Who's Racing With The Short Track Super Series At All-Tech Raceway?
A look at the list of expected entries for the 2024 Short Track Super Series Sunshine Swing at All-Tech Raceway.
Many of the biggest names in Northeast Dirt Modified racing will call All-Tech Raceway their home away from home for four days in February. As part of the the series' traditional Sunshine Swing, the Short Track Super Series is bringing the cars and stars to Lake City, Florida, February 7-10.
This year's expected driver roster features champions and big race winners from all over the Northeast Modified world. The list of confirmed drivers is headlined by the three drivers who have dominated Modified racing over the last decade.
Matt Sheppard, the defending Short Track Super Series North Region and South Region champion, will return to All-Tech Raceway looking to get back to victory lane for the second time in his career. Last year, Sheppard walked away with a pair of runner-up finishes in the two races that were contested.
Stewart Friesen, who will begin the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season at Daytona International Speedway next week, will kick off his 2024 racing season in a Modified at All-Tech. Friesen, who won last year's Short Track Super Series Sunshine Swing opener, has three career wins at the Florida half-mile oval.
For the first time since 2020, Mat Williamson will get his season started early during the Sunshine Swing. Williamson collected a pair of runner-up finishes and an eighth-place finish in his three previous starts at All-Tech.
While the "Big Three" will enter the Sunshine Swing as favorites to win each night, they will need to be at the top of their game to beat the stout field of drivers who will be joining them for four nights of racing.
2021 Sunshine Swing champion Erick Rudolph will return to All-Tech Raceway chasing his second career win at the track. "The Firestarter" has six career top-five finishes in eight starts at All-Tech.
Larry Wight, the 2022 Sunshine Swing champion, also arrived at the track for practice on Tuesday night.
Australia native Peter Britten, young gun Alex Payne and the always-competitive Marc Johnson will also be in action chasing their first Sunshine Swing wins. A trio of Dannys will be among the drivers to keep an eye on with Danny Varin, Danny Bouc and Danny Creeden all expected to race at All-Tech.
Other drivers to keep an eye on include former World of Outlaws Late Model driver Austin Hubbard and recent Indoor Auto Racing Series winner Tanner VanDoren.
