Logan Seavey Clinches Second USAC Midget Title At Merced
Logan Seavey clinched the 2023 USAC National Midget title by starting the feature Tuesday night at Merced Speedway.
Logan Seavey clinched his second USAC National Midget championship by taking the green flag Tuesday night at Merced Speedway. Seavey, who also won a USAC National Midget championship in 2018, earned his second USAC title of the season after claiming the USAC Silver Crown title in October. This marks the first time a driver has won two USAC crowns in a season since 2011 with Levi Jones (Silver Crown and Sprint).
By virtue of doubling-up with the USAC National Midget and Silver Crown titles in 2023, Seavey earned $100,000 in total point fund money alone for the year between the two divisions.
Seavey earned Abacus Racing their first championship in team history. Seavey's previous championship came with Keith Kunz Motorsports in 2018. He finished fourth at Merced driving from his 12th starting spot. It was his 20th straight top-10 finish during the 2023 season, the most in USAC National Midget racing since 2000 when Kasey Kahne accumulated 21, and prior to that, Jason Leffler grabbing 22-straight in 1997.
Seavey not only won the USAC Silver Crown title this season, but he swept all three USAC races during the 4-Crown Nationals in September and also won the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl in January.
The USAC Midget Series return to action tonight at Merced Speedway, and will race again November 24-25 in Ventura, California for the Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix. All of these races will be streamed live on FloRacing.
