The Dirt Track World Championship, the season finale for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, lived up to the hype Sunday evening at Eldora Speedway. A wild 100-lap race saw drama unfold for both the $100,000 race win and the $200,000 Lucas Oil championship. 

Ultimately, Brandon Sheppard became the record eighth leader of the race on lap 60 and held the lead the rest of the way to claim his fifth Dirt Track World Championship win. 

The battle for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion came down to the final lap and the final turn as Hudson O'Neal worked his way by Devin Moran for the second position to claim the $200,000 title. Moran will take home $150,000 for finishing second in the championship battle. 

Ricky Thornton, Jr. was involved in an early accident that sent him to the pit area and ultimately finished eighth, picking up $125,000 for finishing third in the standings.

Jonathan Davenport was in position to claim the championship for much of the race but a mechanical issue relegated him to a 10th-place finish in the race and a fourth-place finish in the championship.
