Anthony Macri Opens PA Speedweek With Back-to-Back Wins
Anthony Macri has claimed back-to-back wins at Lincoln Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway to open PA Speedweek.
Pennsylvania Speedweek kept on rolling Sunday night at BAPS Motor Speedway, and so did Anthony Macri.
“The Concrete Kid” from Dillsburg, PA followed Saturday’s $10,092 Lincoln Speedway triumph with another $8,000 score at the York Haven facility – this time a much more dominant affair compared to his previous late-race heroics against Danny Dietrich and Brent Marks.
The pilot of car No. 39M started from the outside pole at BAPS and trailed Mechanicsburg, PA native Lucas Wolfe for the opening six laps before pouncing and running away into the night unchallenged.
At 24-years-old, Macri has competed in 49 PA Speedweek events and is now a five-time winner; tying him with legends like Steve Smith, Billy Pauch, Todd Shaffer, Brian Montieth, and Wolfe for 11th on the All-Time Wins List.

It’s obvious that starting the week undefeated is the position every team wants to be in. However, Macri is not taking anything for granted. He started last year’s PA Speedweek in this exact position, and he let it get to him. That’s not happening this year.
“I know how Speedweek started last year, and I think it got to me mentally,” Macri told SprintCarUnlimited.com. "It bit me in the ass after we started so hot. Coming out of the gates with two wins is great, but it’s a brand new day when the clock strikes midnight. This sport can be unforgiving and change in a single lap. We’re trying not to get ahead of ourselves and stay level-headed.”
Justin Peck followed Macri to the checkered flag, advancing the Buch Motorsports #13 from sixth-to-second. The Monrovia, IN native is currently second in PA Speedweek points – finishes of fourth and second – and trails Macri by 61-points.
Tanner Thorson, who set QuickTime (14.736), capped off an impressive outing aboard Aaron Long’s #58 by rounding out the podium at BAPS Motor Speedway. The former Chili Bowl and USAC National Midget champion is currently sitting fourth (-80) in PA Speedweek points and does plan to compete all week.
Closing out the top-10 at BAPS was Danny Dietrich in fourth, Lance Dewease in fifth, Kyle Reinhardt in sixth, Freddie Rahmer in seventh, Dylan Norris in eighth, Troy Wagaman in ninth, and Kyle Moody in 10th.
