What is Eldora Speedway?
The Eldora Speedway is a 1/2-mile clay oval, located in Rossburg Ohio.
Deemed "One of the Greatest Dirt Tracks in History", this speedway has a lively history hosting racing's favorite events including: Dirt Late Model Dream, World 100, Kings Royal, The Historical Big One, SRX and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
Who Built Eldora Speedway?
The track was built in 1942 as a 1/4-mile clay oval by Earl Baltes. The speedway was soon enlarged to a 1/2-mile track after Baltes joined the United States Auto Club.
Who is Earl Baltes?
Earles Baltes was a well-known race promoter and the original owner of the Eldora Speedway.
Earle Baltes' efforts as a race promoter is highly recognized by the the racing community. In 1993 and 2001 he was awarded "Promoter of the Year". In 1993, the state of Ohio re-named Rout 118 to "Earl Baltes Highway".
He passed away at age 93, on March 23, 2015.

Dirt Late Model Dream
Eldora Speedway celebrates hosting is the 29th Dirt Late Model Dream on June 8-10. The race pays a whopping $129,000 to win and is known as the original six-figure payday for dirt late models. This event is a chance for fans to come together at the beloved speedway to watch their favorite drivers compete on the fast-paces track.
World 100
There may be races that pay more, but there is no race that dirt late model racers want to win more than the World 100. It is the race that every driver circles on their calendar every year with hopes of claiming the coveted globe trophy. The inaugural race was held in 1971 and paid $3,000 to win. Since that original World 100, the winner's share of the purse has increased by $1,000 every year with this year's race paying $56,000 to win.
Kings Royal
The Kings Royal was Eldora's first major sprint car event that offered an impressive winning payout. As of 2019, the race winner receives a prize amount of $175,000. The 40-lap race is referred to as the "crown jewel" event of the year.
The Historical Big One
This race is what keeps fans excited with a high stakes payout of $100,000. The sprint car event was hosted for the first time in 1993 and continued through 2003. The Historical Big One went on hiatus until it's recent re-instatement in 2022.
