MARS Late Models Opening Weekend Attracting Heavy Hitters
The MARS Racing Series will open the season with a strong field of late models this weekend at Brownstown Bullring, Fairbury Speedway and Red Hill Raceway.
The MARS Racing Series is set to kick off the 2023 season in style with a triple-header weekend featuring some of the biggest names in dirt late model racing. A trio of weekend events through the state of Illinois will see the series visit the Brownstown Bullring on Friday, Fairbury Speedway on Saturday and Red Hill Raceway on Sunday.
In addition to the super-competitive home guard from the Land of Lincoln, stars from both the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Series are expected to be in attendance during the weekend events.
Four-time World of Outlaws Late Model champion and defending Castrol FloRacing Night in America champion Brandon Sheppard headlines the list of drivers expected to compete during the weekend. Sheppard is currently slated to compete in Friday's race at the Brownstown Bullring and Saturday's race at Fairbury Speedway.
Defending World of Outlaws Late Model champion and Illinois native Dennis Erb, Jr. is also expected to race at both Brownstown and Fairbury. "The Moweaqua Missile" Shannon Babb, a 101-time DIRTcar Summer Nationals winner, will be in action Friday and Saturday as well.
2022 Gateway Dirt Nationals winner Tyler Erb is slated to make the trip to Illinois this weekend with plans to compete in all three MARS Racing Series events. Tanner English, a winner with the World of Outlaws Late Models already this season, also plans to compete in all three races this weekend.
Fresh off a win at Farmer City Raceway last weekend, "The Highside Hustler" Jason Feger will tackle the triple-header weekend with hopes of adding a few more wins to this tally this season.
Ryan Unzicker, the defending MARS Racing Series champion, will also be in action for all three events.
In addition to these drivers, expect to see a strong contingent of Illinois drivers and maybe even a few more surprises during the opening weekend for the MARS Racing Series.
Fans unable to make it out to any of the three races this weekend will be able to watch the MARS Racing Series live on FloRacing. If you're not already a FloRacing subscriber, click here to sign up today.
