Who's Racing Monday At The Lucas Oil Chili Bowl?
Take a look at the drivers who will be competing during Monday's Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals qualifying night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The wait is over. The 37th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals is finally here.
Monday’s opening night at Tulsa’s SageNet Center marks the first of five crucial preliminaries with tonight’s finishing order setting the stage for Saturday’s alphabet soup. The first 70-ish of an expected 360+ car field will hit the track tonight – for Heat Races, Qualifiers, C-Mains, B-Mains, A-Main – along with the O’Reilly Auto Parts Invitational Race of Champions.
Headlining Monday’s roster – which can be seen completely at the bottom – is Cannon McIntosh, a two-time preliminary winner hailing from down the road in Bixby, OK. It’s his final year with a shot to break Kevin Swindell’s record as youngest Chili Bowl champion and it begins tonight in the Dave Mac/Dalby Motorsports No. 08.
A pair of Tulsa Shootout champions will trade their Micro Sprints for Midgets this evening as Gavan Boschele (Mooresville, NC) and TJ Smith (Fresno, CA) begin their next quest for a Golden Driller. Boschele, at only 14 years old, drives for the potent Keith Kunz Motorsports operation, while 32-year-old Smith wheels for Shannon McQueen.
Joining Boschele in the KKM camp is highly touted 16-year-old Ryan Timms of Oklahoma City, who is taking control of the flagship No. 67 with backing from Toyota Racing and Mobil 1. They’ve also got KKM Givebvack Classic winner, Kyle Spence, and United Kingdom star, Tom Harris, in action this evening.
Carrying the flag for the NASCAR Cup Series this evening is Chase Briscoe, now a winner with Stewart-Haas Racing at the level. He’s brought Mahindra Tractors from the stock cars to Midgets as he goes for his second-career Chili Bowl A-Main start.
Shane Golobic and Chris Windom, two longtime staples and successful gassers in this building, also enter Monday night with high hopes of getting their first preliminary win and locking it in. Both NOS Energy Drink drivers remain with their respective teams – Golobic at Matt Wood Racing and Windom at CB Industries.
Other notables names tonight include Chili Bowl legend Jerry Coons Jr, World of Outlaws Late Model star Nick Hoffman, former Tulsa Shootout champion Gary Taylor, Tony Bruce Jr, Ayrton Gennetten, Bill Rose, Alex Sewell, Trey Marcham, Kris Carroll, Steven Snyder Jr, Kevin Bayer, and more.
If you can’t be in Tulsa to witness the magic yourself, you can watch every single lap tonight and all week long on the FloRacing app.
