It's Driller Day for the 38th Annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Following four days of qualifying action including heats, qualifiers, E-Mains, D-Mains, C-Mains and B-Mains, it's time to begin handing out the elusive golden driller trophies.

On Friday night, the top 16 drivers in combined passing points between their heat race and qualifier locked themselves into A-Mains for each division. The remainder of the 24-car field was set following B-Mains and Last Chance Qualifiers on Saturday afternoon.

Key Takeaways

  • Emerson Axsom was the only driver currently locked into all four A-Mains after qualifiers on Friday night. This is the second consecutive year that Axsom has hit for the cycle and qualified for the four main events.
  • Jace Park qualified for three of the four A-Mains on Friday night and punched his ticket to the final race (Winged Outlaw) through the last chance qualifier on Saturday.
  • Jake Hagopian locked into three of the four A-Mains. Hagopian, the defending A-Class winner, will once start on the pole in that race after an impressive 12th-to-second run in his qualifier. That performance on Friday night vaulted him from 94th in points to first.
  • 36-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car winner Shane Stewart is back behind the wheel and having a blast this week at the Tulsa Shootout. He's also finding success, as he's locked into A-Mains in two divisions: A-Class (10th) and Winged Outlaws (5th).
  • The list of drivers currently locked into three A-Mains includes Jake Hagopian, Daison Pursley and Kyle Spence.
  • TJ Smith is sitting on the front row for two of the four main events this evening. Smith will start from the pole in the Winged Outlaws and outside pole in the Non-Wing Outlaws.
  • Jason McDougal, who won three drillers in 2018, is in a prime spot to claim his fourth Tulsa Shootout win. McDougal will start from the pole in the Non-Wing Outlaw A-Main, a race he won in 2018.
