Nuriev Takes 2nd Win on the Bounce at Spa
Aydar Nuriev took his second win of the season in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 at the Spa World RX of Benelux.
Volland Racing’s Aydar Nuriev took his second win of the season in the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 at the Spa World RX of Benelux.
Adding the Spa win to his success in round one of Euro RX Super1600 at Catalunya RX, Russia’s Nuriev extended Championship lead in Belgium. Russia’s Egor Sanin started second in the final and challenged for victory for all six laps. He moved into the lead when Nuriev took his joker on lap four, but dropped back to second when he took his own joker on lap five and finished second with his AG Team Renault Twingo. Czech Republic’s Josef Susta completed the podium in the front-wheel drive support category.
Two of Nuriev’s five Volland Racing Audi A1 team mates, Hungary’s Gergely Marton and Russia’s Artur Egorov, had contact at turn 1 of the final and finished fourth and fifth, but Czech Republic’s Tomas Krejcik, driving a Skoda Citigo, had problems from the start and didn’t make it to the finish. Russia’s Timur Shigabutdinov (Audi A1) and Marat Knyazev (Skoda Fabia) both finished high up the Intermediate Classification, Shigabutdinov fastest in Q2, but contact in semi-final two put both drivers, and Norway’s Marius Bermingrud, out of the race and were unable to make the restart.
After making the final on his Euro RX Super1600 debut at Catalunya RX, Switzerland’s Yuri Belevskiy had technical problems in Q4 and didn’t make it into the semi-finals.
