Kerry Madsen Gets Mad, James McFadden Gets The Win
James McFadden scored the win in Round 2 of the World Series of Sprintcars as track official rescued Kerry Madsen from the fence at Murray Bridge Speedway.
The second round of the World Series of Sprintcars ended abruptly when Kerry Madsen and Tim Van Ginneken tangled, sending Madsen high into the fence and James McFadden to Victory Lane at Murray Bridge Speedway in South Australia on Wednesday night.
The two collided on lap 32 while Madsen was attempting to slide in front of Van Ginneken after passing him on the outside. The crash sent Madsen into the fence where his Sprinter got caught like a fish in a net, and he was left hanging suspended in the air. While the two drivers did not have kind words to say to each other in the aftermath of the incident, Madsen later joked about it on Twitter.
Shame I missed Santa by 2 days, I was dangling like a Xmas sock off @mbspeedway fence pretty high tonight!

Madsen was not having an easy time before the crash. After winning Round 1 on Boxing Day, he struggled for much of night two. To make the feature, he had to advance through the B-Main after crashing in his Heat. He won the B, started 15th in the A, and worked his way up to fifth at the time of the incident. Madsen passed four cars on the opening lap alone.
At the front of the field, James McFadden took the lead from Van Ginneken on lap 12 after starting on the outside pole. Van Ginneken then steadily fell back until he was in the clutches of Madsen. After the incident, Madsen and Van Ginneken were credited with 13th and 14th, respectively.
American Jason Johnson started third and was in second when the race was called. With his second consecutive podium, he moved past Madsen to claim the points lead.
Matt Egel completed the podium in third.
Carson Macedo was the second fastest America and came home fourth after starting seventh. Steven Lines completes the top five.
Two other Americans made it to the feature with Cory Eliason finishing ninth and Dominic Scelzi retiring on the 12th lap after he was “monster trucked.”
In their own words:
