Lucas Wolfe kicks off the Flo 50—our countdown of the greatest dirt track drivers of 2017.

Wolfe spread his talent around four different series and made 35 features in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car, All Star Circuit of Champions, American Sprint Car Series, and during Pennsylvania Speedweeks.

His season did not get off to the best start with a 20th in the first night of the DIRTcar Nationals and a 15th in night two, but he found his rhythm for the finale and scored an impressive fourth among a stellar field at Volusia County Speedway in Barberville, FL.

His next two attempts came with the All-Stars and he posted a pair of top-10s during the month of April. That made him one of the best drivers coming out of the gates, but he really established himself in July during the Pennsylvania Speedweeks.

In 10 nights of competition in the Keystone State, Wolf finished among the top five in half of the races and was outside the top 10 only once—an 11th at Grandview Speedway.

And while he failed to win a race in 2017 in the major sanctioning bodies, he managed to score three runner-up finish in three different series: in night nine of the Pennsylvania Speedweeks at Port Royal Speedway, with the All Stars at Susquehanna (PA) Speedway Park, and with the Outlaws at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Wolfe was in jeopardy of falling out of the top 50 late in the season when he struggled to score a top-10 in his last three Outlaws races. As the year wound down and opportunities became limited, however, he dug deep to obtain the honor. He finished only 15th in night one of the Cocopah Nationals, but earned back-to-back top-10s to close out the ASCS national tour.
