Josh Baughman will use the Textron Off Road World Finals at The Dirt Track At Charlotte Motor Speedway to prepare for 2018 when he will spend more of his time in 410 Sprint competition.

In 2017, he has split his time between 360s and 410s with the bulk of his success coming in cars with less horsepower. Competing with the American Sprint Car Series, he sits 10th in the standings on the strength of five top-fives and nine top-10s in just 16 features.

His best result in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series was a 12th-place finish in one of the preliminary nights of the Knoxville Nationals.

"I think we're around 30 410 races ever," Baughman said. "We have a lot to learn being in a 360 for so long. We're getting our engine program better. Racing more 410 races will help us learn a lot."

Charlotte will be little more than a test session. With so many cars plus a track and format that is unfamiliar to the 360 driver has realistic expectations.

"We're taking a new car and a couple of things to test for next year," he said. "It will be a test session to end the year. Results aren't as important as what we can learn."

The weekend is important, however, because as he continues in his career the Outlaws or Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions are the next likely stepping stones.

"I really don't know what to expect," Baughman continued. "It's a tough deal. I want to finish races and make max laps. I want to finish strong in our 410 program since we're running more 410 stuff next year."
