For the first time this year, IndyCars are on track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The annual open test ahead of the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 takes place Wednesday and Thursday at the legendary 2.5-mile oval in the Racing Capital of the World.

Kyle Larson is among the 34 drivers that'll test Wednesday and Thursday, along with two-time reigning Indy 500 champ Josef Newgarden and Larson's Arrow McLaren Racing teammates Christian Lundgaard, Pato O'Ward and Nolan Siegel.

2025 Indianapolis 500 Open Test Schedule, April 23

(The on-track schedule has been revised due to an internet outage at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that wiped out the initial 10:05 a.m. to noon ET session. The issue primarily affected pit lane, disrupting timing and scoring systems critical for the testing sessions)

• 9:00 AM: Gates open
• 12:45 PM — 2:00 PM: Veterans only
• 2:00 PM — 4:00 PM: Rookie Orientation Program and oval refresher tests (including Larson)
• 4:00 PM — 7:00 PM: Open testing for all drivers and teams
• 7:00 PM: Gates closed

• 9:00 AM: Gates open
  
• 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM: High boost session (increased engine boost levels, similar to Fast Friday)
• 12:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Open testing for all drivers and teams
• 6:00 PM: Gates closed

How To Watch The 2025 Indianapolis 500 Open Test

Every lap of the Indy 500 open test will be streamed live on the NTT INDYCAR Series YouTube channel.

The coverage will feature camera footage of the on-track action with commentary from IMS veteran announcer Allen Bestwick. Live timing and scoring is also available at IndyCar.com/leaderboard and the IndyCar app.

The Indy 500 open test is free to the public as Indianapolis Motor Speedway allows fans to experience the action in the Southeast Visa and Turn 2 Viewing Mounds. To access facility map of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, click here.

Free parking is available in Lot 3P. Fans with an ADA placard or those visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum will be allowed to park in the Museum Lot.
