The post-Speedweeks campaign on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series began with Friday's stop at Ohio's Atomic Speedway before the tour visits legendary Indiana quarter-mile oval Brownstown Speedway on Saturday.

Turning back challenges from Josh Rice, none more than a turn-one slider on lap 26, pole-starting Ricky Thornton Jr. led all 50 laps for the $15,000 victory at Atomic. Thornton beat Rice by 0.541 of a second for his first career Atomic victory and his fourth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph in eight series races.

Thornton, who ran the final 10 laps with right-side damage following contact with Brenden Smith, notched his 39th full-field tour victory. Thornton's win puts him in the points lead as he chases a second straight Lucas Oil title.

Second-starting Jonathan Davenport trailed Thornton for the opening 11 laps before tangling with a lapped car and spinning in turn one. Davenport finished 10th. Mike Marlar finished fourth in his debut aboard an Infinity Chassis.
