Port Royal Speedway held its first major Sprint Car race of the 2024 season on Saturday with the $15,000-to-win Keith Kauffman Classic.

Anthony Macri led the final 14 of 30 laps to inherit the five-figure payday after a flat left-rear tire knocked early leader Chase Dietz out of the running. It's Macri's sixth victory of the season, which extends his nation-leading marking.

Dietz, in his first year aboard the Zemco Racing No. 1z machine, had led the first 16 laps and looked bound for his richest victory of his career in the race honoring Kauffman, the Mifflintown, Pa., legend in the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, until his left-rear tire gave away on him while leading.

Dietz's sudden fall was part of a chaotic night for the Pennsylvania Posse's best drivers. Lance Dewease was part of an opening-lap seven-car melee and then five-time track champion Logan Wagner wrecked out of the race running third.
