The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series held the first night of the Winter Nationals on Tuesday at Florida's Ocala Speedway, formerly known as Bubba Raceway Park.

Ricky Thornton Jr. led the two laps that mattered most — the last two circuits — en route to the $10,000 payday over race-long leader Tyler Erb, his second win in a row to start tour's three-race-old season. 

Erb, meanwhile, led 36 of the 40 laps and finished 0.448 seconds behind Thornton, who ran down the New Waverly, Texas, driver amid lapped traffic. Polesitter Jonathan Davenport led the opening two laps, but couldn't recover from falling second to fourth on a lap-20 restart to finish fourth.
