The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series kicked off the 2024 season on Thursday with Golden Isles Speedway's Super Bowl of Racing, a three-day event that's attracted the majority of the sport's biggest names.

Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., led 39 of 40 laps and topped Blairsville, Ga.'s Jonathan Davenport by 0.633 of a second for the $10,000 victory that starts his touring title defense on the right foot. Evans, Ga.'s Brandon Overton, a two-time Super Bowl of Racing winner last year, finished third.

Garrett Alberson of Las Cruces, N.M., was the biggest mover of the race, starting 19th and finishing 11th. O'Neal, Jimmy Owens (sixth in the feature), Overton, Davenport, Kyle Bronson (seventh), and Daulton Wilson (ninth) won the heat races. Davenport edged Brandon Sheppard by 0.020 of a second to win the fourth heat and ultimately start from the outside front row.
