Aaron Reutzel led all 25 laps of Friday's FVP Hard Knox qualifying night to advance into Saturday's Knoxville Nationals main event along with David Gravel, Scott Bogucki and Davey Heskin, who made up the top four.

Reutzel, Gravel, Bogucki, and Heskin will start 21st through 24th in Saturday's 50-lap championship finale. While Reutzel transferred to the big show from the pole, Gravel, Bogucki, and Heskin had to toil from behind. Gravel started seventh, while Heskin rallied from 10th and Bogucki held onto third from the second-starting spot.

Hometown driver Jamie Ball put in a valiant effort to make the Nationals main event, knocking on the door of the fourth and final transfer in the early laps, and even taking fourth from Brandon Wimmer on lap seven before the pass was negated because of a subsequent caution.

Ball, who eventually finished 14th, held down the fifth spot through 12 laps before backtracking down the leaderboard. Parker Price-Miller maintained the final transfer position until Heskin stormed onto the scene with five laps remaining.

Price-Miller managed to finish fifth and will start Saturday's B-main in 11th, while last year's Kings Royal winner Brent Marks finished sixth from the 19th-starting position.

Gage Pulkrabek, who escaped from the wreckage under his own power, had his top wing collapse through turns three and four, sending airborne.

Justin Sanders and Sam Hafertepe Jr. were the second and third drivers who wrecked during their hot lap session. Both escaped OK. Only Sanders was able to resume.
