Justin Grant's Passion And Intensity On Display In DIRT Docuseries
Justin Grant is a passionate dirt track racer who stars alongside Kyle Larson in the first two episodes of DIRT: THE LAST GREAT AMERICAN SPORT.
Justin Grant understands the dangers involved with racing open-wheel dirt cars at race tracks throughout the country. Despite the risks, he made it clear during the first two episodes of DIRT: THE LAST GREAT AMERICAN SPORT sponsored by NOS Energy Drink that he feels more alive behind the wheel of a race car than not.
Grant co-stars alongside NASCAR star Kyle Larson in the first two episodes of the five-part documentary series which premieres Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Throughout the first two episodes, Grant's passion, intensity and desire to be the best at his craft shines through.
"I've had a lot of people reach out to me. I come off as intense in it," Grant said. "I am pretty intense, I think. I do a pretty good job of being more casual on a microphone. I do make an effort, but I am intense. I've worked hard to get to where I'm at in this deal, and I take things seriously."
Grant, a 32-year old dirt track racer from Ione, California, competes in a variety of dirt track race cars including winged and non-wing Sprint Cars, Midgets and USAC Silver Crown cars. This year, he's competing for a USAC Triple Crown title with USAC Midgets, USAC Sprint Cars and the USAC Silver Crown Series.
All of Grant’s races can be seen live on FloRacing.

One of the standout moments from the first two episodes of DIRT: THE LAST GREAT AMERICAN SPORT sponsored by NOS Energy Drink occurs when Grant mistakes the white flag for the checkered flag and loses an important position during his Chili Bowl preliminary night.
"The depiction was probably spot on," Grant said. "I have two or three blowups like that a year. I came into this wanting to really be a Sprint Car driver. I was always pretty good, but I was never a freak. I had to work really hard at getting better.
"I'm a little hard on myself. It's something I've worked on hard, to back off the intensity. Most of the time, I'm looking forward to the next thing, but its like tracks in the snow: when you're driving right, you have those tracks, and you can drive outside of them but sometimes it just pulls you back in."
Throughout the first two episodes, Grant's hard work both at the track and away from the track is on display. From studying film of his races to working out in the gym, Grant puts in hours of work each week to be the best race car driver he can be.
"I had to work and will my way into being good," Grant stated. "I was just an average race car driver when i first started. I had to train myself to be good, and I hoped they captured that well, instead of me being a raging idiot."
Grant has two wins in the Sprint Car this year: April 15 at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana, and May 5 at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. Grant’s currently fifth in the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car standings, 49 points behind leader C.J. Leary.
In the Silver Crown division, Grant’s coming off an eighth-place finish last week in the Hoosier Hundred at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
As far as the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget schedule, things resume in June 4-11’s Indiana Midget Week, which visits Tri-State Speedway, Circle City Raceway, Gas City I-69 Speedway, Lincoln Park Speedway, Bloomington, Lawrenceburg Speedway and Kokomo Speedway, in that order.
Grant is sixth in the USAC National Midget standings, trailing leader Jacob Denney by 41 points.
Episode 3 of DIRT: THE LAST GREAT AMERICAN SPORT sponsored by NOS Energy Drink premieres Tuesday, May 30 at 7 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. An uncensored version of the episode will be available Wednesday, May 31 on FloRacing.
