Fall Is Heating Up With A Blazing Points Battle And Live Streams
With three events live-streaming at FloRacing.com, the Fastrak season is going to heat up this fall.
The 2017 season has been one full of turns and excitement for the Fastrak touring and weekly series, but the action is going to heat up on track and on the web.
FloRacing.com is live-streaming three national touring races in the next three months, kicking off with the Fastrak World Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA, on September 15-16.
Both the weekly and touring series point races are razor tight, and the titles are still within several drivers' grasps. With the heavy racing season of summer winding down, it's time to take a look at the season ahead and the World Championships at Virginia Motor Speedway next month.
The national touring points race has reached a fever pitch with only 16 points separating second and fifth. The leader of the touring series points is Benji Hicks who has built a slight buffer of 19 points. Hicks has won four touring series races, the most of any driver in a season in which no single racer has won two events back-to-back. Matthew Nance only maintains a four-point lead in second place over Cla Knight in third.
The weekly series championship is led by West Virginia's Henry Hornsby.
Hornsby holds a 10-point lead over second-place Frankie Beard. The top three are separated by only 14 points altogether. Running in third place overall, Tyler Bare won the Triple Crown races earlier in the Fastrak season at 311 Speedway in Pine Hall, NC; Wyeth Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA; and Princeton Raceway in Princeton, WV.
In addition to the Fastrak World Championship, FloRacing is live-streaming a pair of Ultimate Southeast Series Late Model events. at Dublin (North Carolina) Motor Speedway on October 7 and at Screven Motor Complex in Screven, GA, on November 17-18. The event at Screven will be in conjunction with Fastrak.
In the Fastrak Rookie of the Year chase, Phillip Thompson of Morristown, TN, has a 20-point lead over Dylan Lewis. In the Future Stars Cup Points (Southeast), Corey Almond has a 32-point lead over Brent Hilton. In the Mid-Ohio Valley region of the Future Stars Cup Weston, Virginia driver Trey Watson has a commanding lead.
