Modified World Championship To Pay Biggest Purse In Modified Racing
The inaugural Modified World Championship at Mississippi Thunder Speedway will pay the biggest purse in Modified racing.

A historic weekend for Dirt Modified racing will take place May 28-31 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wisconsin. The inaugural Modified World Championship – an event featuring the biggest purse in Modified racing – will pay $100,025 to the winner of the main event on Saturday, May 31.
The four-day event boasts a total purse of over $300,000, which has already attracted some of the biggest names in dirt track racing.
Ricky Thornton Jr., Tyler Erb, Cade Dillard, Kyle Strickler, David Stremme, Stormy Scott and Rodney Sanders are just a few of the 120 pre-entered drivers who have their sights set on the $100,025 top prize.
A unique format will be used for the event with practice and qualifying being held on Wednesday, May 28 prior to two nights of preliminary racing on Thursday, May 29 and Friday, May 30.
Each night of preliminary racing will consist of heats, b-mains and a pair of $2,525-to-win features. Each of the four preliminary features will lock the top five finishers into Saturday’s main event.
If you like soup, Saturday will be for you. An “alphabet soup” format similar to what is used at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals will be used to give drivers a chance to move forward and potentially lock into the main event.
A full serving of soup will set the stage for the 80-lap Modified World Championship main event, where 30 Modified drivers will battle to have their name written on the $100,025 check. In addition to the hefty winner’s check, the runner-up finisher will take home $30,000 and the third-place driver will collect $15,000.
A $2,525-to-win Non-Qualifiers race will also be contested.
Modified drivers will be able to run their sanction (USRA, Wissota or DIRTcar UMP Modifieds) after claiming which sanction they’ll be following during pre-tech inspection on Wednesday.
As a bonus attraction, USRA Stock Cars will be in action for a $10,000-to-win feature of their own. A field of 60+ drivers have already pre-entered for the event with names like Dallon Murty, Dylan Thornton, Jim Chisholm and Lucas Schott throwing their hat into the ring.
