Morgan Turpen Is Making A Habit Of Sweeping USCS Weekends
For the second straight weekend, Morgan Turpen swept a United Sprint Car Series weekend.
The "Queen of the Wings," Morgan Turpen, added two more United Sprint Car Series (USCS) victories to her total on Friday at I-75 Speedway in Sweetwater, TN, and Saturday at Smoky Mountain Raceway in Marysville, TN.
Her four consecutive wins raises her total to five for the season and 17 in her career.
On Friday night, Turpen had to make her way to the front after starting sixth at I-75. On Saturday, she led flag-to-flag at Smoky Mountain.

The weekend kickoff was the more challenging of the two. The pole inversion lined Turpen up on the outside of row three, and it was difficult to find a rhythm in a race with eight cautions. The yellow flag was unfurled twice in the first three laps. On the second restart, Turpen was passed on the outside by Matt Covington, but the caution waved again three laps later and gave her a chance for redemption.
Turpen spends her weekdays teaching high school English in Germantown, TN, and she showed her students why it pays to take good notes. On the next restart, she swept to the outside and climbed into fifth.
She continued to steadily move up the grid. Just past the halfway mark, she caught her teammate Terry Gray for the lead on lap 18. She kept to the high side and waved goodbye.
On Saturday, she started on the outside of Jordon Mallett and immediately grabbed the lead. By the end of the fifth lap, she had built a straightaway lead and never looked back.
The last time the USCS was in competition Turpen swept the Hurricane Hustle weekend in a two-night show at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.
Derek Hagar finished second both nights.
Traffic proved to be Hagar's undoing Friday and Saturday.
At I-75, Hagar was embroiled in a battle with Gray for the lead late in the going as Turpen squirted out to a substantial lead. A late-race caution allowed Hagar to get to Turpen's nerf bar, but he could not intimidate her out of the groove.
At Smoky Mountain, it took Hagar nine laps to get around Mallett for the runner-up spot on the track. By that time, Turpen had built a straightaway lead that proved to be insurmountable.
Gray, Zach Daum, and Covington rounded out the top five at I-75.
Covington, Mallett, and Marshall Skinner finished third through fifth, respectively, at Smoky Mountain.
